| COMPREHENSIVE, WEB-BASED APPLICATION INTEGRATES MULTIPLE PROCESSES, OFFERS EASY REPORTING, AND ENSURES HIGH SECURITY FOR THE COLORADO SPRINGS POLICE DEPARTMENT |
| Challenge |
| The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) needed to replace its work order tracking software with a customized, comprehensive, web-based customer care system. The new system needed to track work orders, track computer and peripheral inventory, manage software licenses, provide secure administrative access, and offer easy reporting capabilities. |
| In addition, the application needed to provide fixed-asset inventory management capabilities for the CSPD Facilities Department to track office equipment such as chairs, desks, and filing cabinets. |
| Solution |
| To achieve these objectives, the CSPD selected visionbox to design and build a new system. After exhaustive requirements gathering, visionbox architected a web-based system built using Microsoft web technologies and Microsoft SQL Server 2000. |
| The new customer care system easily tracks work orders, computer and electronics inventory, and software licenses. In addition to enforcing many custom business rules, the new application provides flexible reporting and supports a multi-tiered security model. The system features a complete, easy-to-use administration site enabling administrators to control key site functionality through a simple browser interface. |
| In addition to these components, the solution includes a Symbol Pocket PC device with an integrated bar-code scanner for the fixed-asset inventory management system. |
